Four uses for the Like button:

I want others to see this
I want others to know I like this
I want the writer to know I like this
I want to bookmark this for myself

The usefulness of #4 means the other meanings are always ambiguous. (Not a complaint, just an observation)

And I've always wondered how reiterative likes work (e.g. liking something in the All Users' Likes feed in order to get it into my Likes queue, which is where I save things). My casual observation is it doesn't double up in the All Users feed, which is what I would hope, once lots of people start multiple-liking things.
