I fully support the #Teamsters in their strike at Amazon. I hope they are successful. But I am also thinking how a few months ago they would not endorse a candidate for president because so many of their members are Pro-Trump. At this stage, it is a near impossibility that Amazon will negotiate with the #union because they know the leader they bought and paid for will enter the white house next month. Remember how Bezos personally stepped in and prevented WaPo from endorsing Harris? It is never a good sign when your oppressor supports the same politicians as you. As much as it raises my spirits seeing Sean O'brien out on the picket lines, I wish he used that energy earlier to convince his union to turn away from the GOP. I can't stop picturing Teamsters getting tear gassed just like those protesters who stood in the way of Trump's photo op. I keep thinking about Reagan firing all the air traffic controllers and launching a wave of union busting that we still haven't recovered from. And I think about all those union guys who campaigned for Reagan in 1980 and then were dumbfounded as they watched him crush organized labor in America. Trump will be1000x worse than Reagan when it comes to labor relations. Reagan used words and the pen. Trump will use force. Go back and read about the violence of the labor movement of the early 20th century, when robber barrons hired goons like the Pinkerton agency to crack skulls on the picket lines. That is where we are heading. This time it will be companies like Blackwater and they will have the full support of the federal government. After Bezos' "security" force brutalizes these Teamsters, Trump's DOJ will throw them in jail for a decade. Dark days are approaching. I hope the working class can stay strong and eventually overcome, but also remember the saying "those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it"

Radio became the first form of instant mass media in the early 20th century. At the same time, a wave of fascism was sweeping Europe. Seeing how authoritarian regimes used radio to control information and influence public opinion, the US Congress passed the Telecommunications Act of 1934. The bill put restrictions on the number of media outlets that could owned by a single entity. After watching the rise of Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco, America understood the danger of letting one person have outsized influence over mass media. These rules remained in place for the next 60 years. However, by the end of the century, radio and television were seen as merely part of the "entertainment industry". In an effort to fuel economic growth, Congress revised the Telecomminications Act in 1996. They removed all the ownership rules and immediately a small group of moguls began gobbling up media outlets. From there it only took 20 years for Donald Trump to come to power. A reminder that those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

The news about #unitedhealthcare got me thinking about a lawyer friend of mine who spent most of his career suing insurance compnaies. He had an excellent summary of the insurance business model and the value of his profession. He once told me: "Insurance companies perform two functions. 1) collect premiums 2) pay claims. Which of those do you think they dedicate the most resources to?" The answer of course is #1. There are way more people selling policies than processing claims. This is the foundation of the entire industry. Insurance companies know they do not have the capacity to actually deliver the service they say they provide. That is why it is profitable. UnitedHealthCare would flat-out deny a third of all claims. They know that most people do not have the time or resources to battle them in court. Denying a claim costs them nothing - especially now that they can have bots do it for them. It doesn't have to be like this. This is the path insurance companies chose. They could do their jobs. They could provide the coverage that their clients pay dearly for - But then guys like #BrianThompson wouldn't be able to sell their stock options for millions of dollars. I wonder if Thompson had life insurance? And I wonder if the company that holds the policy is working hard to pay his family or looking for a way to deny the claim?

I hate #veteransday. I served in the 1st Gulf War and over the past 25 years I've watched the USA slowly marching toward #fascism. And every #electionday I urge people who claim to "support the troops" to stop voting GOP when they clearly hate the Constitution. Bush/Cheney, McConnell, Cruz, Graham, Jordan, Halwey, Gohmert, Grassley, Shelby... the list goes on... these traitors who've relentlessly chipped away at the pillars of Democracy for decades now. And every year these corrupt autocrats get re-elected and the next week all the "patriots" who voted for these criminals have the gall to talk about respecting the sacrifices of veterans. You are all a dsigrace. Now you will finally see. You got your dictator. You got the fascisim you've been voting for year after year. Trump is not the problem, he is merely the culminatuon of 20+ years of misguided and uniformed Nationalism. Please spare me the "Thank you for your service" bullshit. I went over there to fight a dictator and came back to watch you assholes piss away Democracy. Take your flags and your free meals at Dennys and shove them up your Nazi ass. #gofuckyourself

Can we stop with the Victorian notion of the " service entrance"? Im a technician. I work in high rise office buildings. I show up in corporate casual dress and my primary tool is a laptop. Yet often when I stop at the front desk, when they find out I am a "contractor"... I am told I have to use the service entrance. Which is usually around back, hidden in some unkempt corner of the building and requires some sort of security escort. I can't believe we still have this class system in the 21st century where only certain people are allowed to use the front door and "the help" has to come in the back so that the upper echeleon dont have to make eye contact. Fuck this bourgeoisie nonsense.
