Richard Seager was an important and influential archaeologist at the turn of the last century. In Crete he worked with Edith Hall Dohan and Harriet Boyd Hawes on the excavations at Gournia, Vasiliki, Vrokastro, and Mochlos. At Vasiliki he innovated modern ideas of stratigraphical dating.

You may come across references to 'Seager's Villa' (Watrous [2012]). This refers to the home he lived in at Pacheia Ammos - very close to the digs mentioned above. It is located here: 35.109105° N, 25.801996° E, very close to the INSTAP Study Center for East Crete. F8319 in the Mycenaean Atlas.

I was able to find an image archive of Seager's Villa here https://www.flickr.com/photos/wizard73/albums/72157632492899483/

These photos were taken in 2013 by George Moutsakis. Sadly they show this potentially wonderful villa in a run-down state.

In 1997 M.J. Becker and P.P. Betancourt published a biography of Seager: Richard Berry Seager : Pioneer Archaeologist and Proper Gentleman. It sheds light on the very beginnings of modern archaeology on Crete.

Because it's adjacent to the INSTAP Study Center for East Crete how amazing it would be for some millionaire to fix-up this villa as a study center! A scholar can dream.
