A thread. Well, that was an "interesting" night. 1.15am, someone rings our doorbell, and won't quit. I answer the door, half asleel, and a woman demands entry to "search for her missing daughter", after "tracking her phone" to our property.

Her "daughter" had been "missing" since 5pm, and she had only just decided to track her phone. Despite my insistence that there was nobody in the house other than me, my hubby, and our spawn, she kept insisting that her daughter was inside, and demanding to come in.

When asked for reasonable proof for her belief that her daughter was inside our house, she showed me a screenshot of our address from what looked like Google Maps, no proof that the address had been shown on a tracking app.

My sleepy brain didn't quite put everything together as dodgy. Well, not immediately, anyway. I asked my husband to call the police, and he went back inside.

The woman at the door also called the police, shouting at the poor operator, almost unintelligibly, that she knew we were hiding her daughter inside. The hubby came back out, not having called the police at all, so I took the phone from him, and called 999.

Within seconds, 2 taxis pulled up on the pavement outside the house, and the woman ran down the path and jumped into one of them, driving off - at speed - immediately.

The operator I was on the phone to confirmed that there was also someone else on a call to the woman who had just left our property, and we gave the details of the taxi she got into.

Firstly, if this poor woman genuinely has a missing daughter, she has all my sympathy, and I completely understand wanting to get to the bottom of where she is. I'd have moved heaven and earth had my son gone missing.

However, waking people up in the middle of the night, aggressively demanding to search their house isn't helpful at all.

The fact that she fled as soon as I called the police, however, is a MASSIVE red flag. Fortunately, the entire exchange was caught on our doorbell camera, with audio, and is available to the police should they require it.

Maybe I'm overthinking things. Maybe I'm being too suspicious. Thoughts on the entire thing? Anyone else had anything like this happen, especially in the UK? It's made me a little nervous, to be honest, and we'll be making sure our doors are fully locked, even when we're in

I wonder if this actually works. It would certainly make writing threads much easier and quicker, and save my fragile little brain in the mornings!

In theory, this should make a second post in the thread... My only issue is that you can't add images into the thread.

Testing, testing... these 3 posts will be deleted soon!
