I posted this on Facebook, but I'll also share it to a more friendly audience here. I couldn't keep quiet there any longer.

I've been really concerned with Trump and supporting Republicans' disregard for laws, for truth, and for human rights and decency. Day after day another new injustice and my concern grows.

One example is the case of the mistakenly deported man against court orders (an immigration court ordered that he not be deported years ago). There is no evidence he is a terrorist or committed any crime. He was given no due process and now the Trump administration is ignoring court orders to facilitate his return. This opens the door for the administration to "accidentally" deport anyone, even an American citizen and not bring them back. This is not America. This is anti-American. This is ruling by fear. This is autocracy.

I'm concerned with the continued support of this lawless, cruel behavior by Christians. I hope and pray it is due to a misguided belief in the lies, but these lies are easy to see past to find truth...that is if you care about truth.

Contrary to popular belief, we are not a Christian nation. Under the current administration, this is more and more obvious every day, as we are doing the opposite of what God wants. In the recent past, our government did some good in the world.. it helped us gain power and prosperity in the world, while also helping save the lives of poor and needy. Now our president took this away, his supporters are cheering, and people are dying. This is awful.

So much open evil in our country, but character matters. 1 Peter 1:16

Continual lying....lying about nearly everything, but truth matters. Proverbs 12:22

Treating people as less than human and laughing about their misfortune, but people matter. 1 John 3:17

If the system of checks and balances fails, then only God can save our country. I pray for our country this Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter and every day.

I've been mostly reposting things lately but here are my thoughts on how to deal with recent events, caused by Trump/Musk. I want to encourage everyone today, so get ready for some positively in the midst of chaos. (Sorry if you'd rather stay negative.)

Stay informed of everything, but don't let the information push you to downward spiral into hopelessness/doom. Information is power. Make sure you are verifying the things and don't spread misinformation. There's enough lies out there right now to sort through.

Contact your senators and congressmen and share your thoughts and encouragement. We need those in elected positions of power to know where we stand. Even local elected officials are important, as states are bring lawsuits against this administration's illegal orders.

Vote in local elections. In Wisconsin, for example, there's a critical state supreme court election coming up. Our state has been moving in the right direction recently and the balance of the court matters immensely.

Consider running for office. This is something I've been thinking about, but right now my family life and kids schedules would make this almost impossible without putting undue stress on my wife. I'll continue to think about it as my kids get older.

Plan for the midterms. Volunteer for your local party organizers. Get involved in protests if/when they happen. Be a positive force in your community, while still being honest about what's happening.

Bring people into our point of view, don't shun them for bad previous decisions. One of the first times I voted I made a terrible mistake, and now I strive to be more informed and to help others do the same.

If you have faith, pray about things. To many, this seems more and more like what the Bible says about the end times. Let's be a light in the darkness.

I just want to go through and make it clear that Trump's actions are not good for this country and in many ways not wanted by big companies. Here's a long thread about it:

The first example of this is the renaming the Gulf of Mexico: this is just childish.

Renaming Mount Denali: anyone familiar is opposed, even Republican politicians from Alaska. This is the historical indigenous name. I'm not sure who was calling for this change, but I didn't hear this from anyone.

The energy "emergency" makes no sense. We are producing more oil than ever and the renewables industry is growing. I doubt there will be much new oil drilling, because the money isn't there.

His attack on EVs doesn't make sense, as almost all automakers have invested tons of money and EV owners are mostly happy with them. In the next decade or the promise of solid state batteries will drastically increase range and decrease charging time.

Even now there are great EV options out there with an increasingly better infrastructure. But most people will charge at home most of the time. Everyone complains about gas prices, so I'm not sure who wants less efficient vehicles...

Pardoning criminals who tried to overthrow the government is terrible. I saw yard signs promoting Trump as the "Law and Order" candidate...this is laughable.

TikTok....I don't care about this. I've never used it and don't plan to. I'm happy here.

Trump's "defeating inflation" order is just dumb. Inflation is down and his future tariffs will probably make it worse.

Declaring a national border emergency when the border crossings are down is just feeding into his narrative. He's been lying about many things and this just to try to validate his lies.

Birthright citizenship: his attempt to end this will likely fail in the courts. More bluster.

His trying to end the weaponization of the government is odd, since he was opening campaigning on weaponzing the government.

Forcing federal workers back into the office is also dumb...there likely isn't even enough office space. As a remote worker, I know that not everyone can be successful, but many can.

"Taking back" the Panama Canal....why? It isn't ours.

Capturing Greenland and/or Canada..... no.

I'm going to try to share quick thoughts on all the actions of our current convicted felon president going forward.

<source:markdown>I just want to go through and make it clear that Trump's actions are not good for this country and in many ways not wanted by big companies.
