we've talked about it being wrong, but I want to point out that it's moral "easy mode" to support israel. if you decide the people with the most power in a conflict are in the right, and you dehumanize their victims, you don't have to think about how awful things are.

you don't have to worry about the future of a horrible situation. you don't have to engage beyond platitudes. your heart doesn't have to break over a genocide if you convince yourself the victims deserved it. you have the luxury to ignore it, so you do.

you want there to be less horror in the world, but instead of working to end horror, you side with the horror and convince yourself it's righteous. you pretend.

this is the state of conservatism: willful blindness, denial of your own state of insecurity, believing that clinging to anything that seems inevitable will keep you stable and protect you. You don't want to fix anything. You want it to be quiet.
