It may seem random but I'm very thankful for the reception Tamalyn has gotten over the past two years (especially the main characters Thomas & Jolan), even though I’m still in the early stage of worldbuilding.

I feel so much joy when I get to draw my boys and read your kind words about them. Tbh I’ve been in the closet for so long (still am but at least my mum & most of my friends know), I do believe my profound denial of who I really was has affected my previous works in some way.

Like I’ve always been itching to write & draw about same sex romances, and I did occasionally, but it was not that important back then, they were just background characters. I guess this is why I’m so passionate about these two boys in particular.

They are important to me because it’s my first BL oriented project, and I used to be afraid to make them a thing. Deep down they were meant to be this way, and I wrote them with that in mind,

but I was afraid of some people's reaction and danced around the topic for a long time. The true nature of their relationship could have stayed simple subtext, had I not been encouraged by some friends to go through with it.

It may seem dumb because they are fictional and it was really only affecting me. But more than characters, they were (and still are) a major step in my acceptance and growth as a person and as an artist.
