This is my first visit. I am struggling with the surrealism of this day. I know more than one thing can exist at the same time. I am living in the darkest day of our country and also sitting in a cat cafe smiling, grateful to remember that D.C. is not all there is.

I have felt this way only a few times in my life, where there is a pall of darkness everywhere I look. Kennedy assassination, MLK assassination, Bobby Kennedy …once when I realized I was doomed to live a very dark existence while active duty military, once when my best friend died of aids in the 80s, the first Trump travesty. And now, today.

Frankly I don’t understand the function of this blue.thread.center at all. I just know I am adrift, feel abandoned by the country I once almost died serving. I’m heartbroken, grieving, hopeless.

So for now, I sit in a cat cafe in Tulsa Oklahoma, feeling so off center I might as well be on a lost tanker in the middle of a storm.

Nothing lasts forever.Even th moment of complete darkness.
