My brother was shy--he didn&#39;t like big crowds.</p> <p>I said I&#39;d go and they were both relieved. What trouble could Ruth get in with me along? I was a bit older than this picture and taller than my mother, but same spirit. You get the picture. I could make her smile.</p> <p>As we walked to join the others, fools threw literal bags of manure at us. They missed. And when we reached the crowd of marchers, it was dazzling--people from everywhere, all over the world, standing up for what&#39;s right. It felt like going to church. My grandfather was a baptist minister. I don&#39;t actually remember hearing the speeches, just getting lost in the energy. As editor of Fantasy &amp; Science Fiction she is not all-powerful.</p> <p>The problems she faced/faces countering the authoritarian/fascist assault on our world are not her problems alone. Sheree is a prominent Black Woman artist/editor in a public space that is hostile to Black women. Also not her problem alone.</p> <p>We need to do some slow thinking on this and ask ourselves difficult questions.
